Welcome
to the Home Based Business Network & Support Group of Greater
Hartford. This group was started in 1995 by David Pena of Workplace
Innovations. Although the group has had over 500 people attend from
1995 to 1997, the average attendance is 35-45 people per meeting. This
group is made up of individuals just starting a business and also individuals
who have been in business for a number of years. The group is made up of
many types of businesses. Currently there are accountants, attorneys, business
consultants, bookkeepers, Internet consultants, career counselors, editors,
word processors and more (check out the member
directory). The group has two purposes:
The first purpose of this
group is provide its members with "resource networking" opportunities.
Most network groups provide their members the opportunity to network. The
Home Based Business Network & Support of Greater Hartford is different.
This group's approach is that of "resource networking". "Resource networking"
is more than just acquiring sales leads. "Resource networking" provides
you with the opportunity to share and exchange information and ideas. With
"resource networking" not only do you work on relationships to help you
acquire sales leads for your business but you also help build relationships
with business people that will help you in your business.
The second purpose is to
act as a support group to people who work out of their home. This support
is accomplished by providing discussions on work at home topics. The topics
can be as simple as selecting an answering machine for your telephone or
the right computer to where and how to advertise your business.
The group meets on the first
and third Wednesdays of the month at 12:30 p.m. Check the calendar
of events for meeting dates and dates of topics to be discussed.
Meetings are held at Charley's
Place Restaurant, 445 S. Main, in West Hartford, Connecticut. Reservations
are requested. Email HmBizNet@juno.com
or call to attend the next meeting.
The agenda of the meetings
will be as follows:
1. Introduction of our business.
2. Member presentations, limited to 15 minutes.
3. Topic discussion.
In order to accomplish everything
on the agenda and allow for questions, I ask that you try to arrive on
time. There will be time to network before or after the network meeting.
Thank you. |
