On Saturday, August 29, hundreds of Hartford youngsters from
Stowe Village, Nelton Court, Bellevue Square, Charter Oak Terrace,
Rice Heights, Dutch Point, Westbrook Village, Bowles Park and
the Hartford Housing Authority's Scattered Sites participated
in Authority's 14th annual Junior Olympics at Weaver High School
on Granby Street. The youngsters competed in a variety of events
including the 50, 75, 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes, a mile
run, shot put, long jump and the 4 x 100 relay.
The silver Revere bowl was awarded to the Nelton Court team for
their total score of 183 points. The Stowe Village team came
in second with 124 and Rice Heights placed third with 83 points.
