A wide variety of hot and cold hors d'oeuvres were served
last Friday evening, August 29, as dozens of community and corporate
folks gathered for Marcus Camby's Cambyland Foundation fundraiser
for the New SAND School. Camby's new reading club, "Rebound
by Reading," was unveiled at the event.
The evening began with a corporate VIP All Star Party at the
The Civic Cafe on Trumbull. Later, all guests were escorted to
another party already underway at The Bar With No Name.
According to Camby's publicist Kelvin Moore the event raised
a substantial amount for the New SAND School.
"There are so many things I could say about Marcus Camby,
but the biggest and best thing is that he acknowledges that Hartford
is his home. I've known him for a long time. He loves people
and through his basketball talents he has made dreams for hundreds
a reality.
Through his generous time and efforts he has done so much for
so many people. I never thought I would see a time I would sit
in Madison Square Garden...well my dreams also became a reality
because of Marcus," said Stevie "J" (known as
the Mayor of Bellevue Square) and a friend of Camby's.
