Mildred Torres-Soto, 57 of Hartford, died Sunday October 25,
1998 at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico,
to the late Julio and Provindencia Soto-Maldonado. Her professional
career included: managing the corporate and contributions program
at the Hartford Courant; the Director of of Planning and Development
of La Casa de Puerto, Inc., a member of the Hartford Board of
Education; a Program Officer and the Coordinator of Minority
Business Development for the Aetna Life & Casualty Ins. Company,
a member of the Hartford Court of Common Council, an Assistant
to the City Manager of Hartford and an Area Coordinator for the
Community Renewal Team of Greater Hartford. Torres served as
a board member of several organizations including the Spanish
American Merchants Association and Permanent Commission on the
Status of Women. She leaves her daughters, Stephanie Torres,
Socorro Velasquez and Stella Torres; six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren; and three brothers. Funeral services will
be held Wednesday, 8:30 am at the DeLeon Funeral Home, 104 Main
Street, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, contributions should be made in care of Stephanie
Torres, 20 Mountford St., Hartford, Ct. 06114.
