Town InformationThe town of Woodstock, population 6,230, is located in northeast Connecticut along the Massachusetts border and covers 61.6 sq. miles. The town was settled by men from Massachusetts in 1686 and called it New Roxbury after their town in the other state. Like other towns settled by inhabitants of Massachusetts, Woodstock was first under jurisdiction of that state. This was based on a 1713 boundary agreement that was nullified in 1747 because it had never been submitted for English approval, and so in 1749 this town and others on the border were annexed by Connecticut and incorporated by its General Assembly. Today Woodstock is a rural community primarily devoted to dairy farming. Woodstock is also the site of the Old Quasset School, the oldest one-room schoolhouse in the United States still in continuous use.Preferred Town USA CustomersInclude a hypertext link from your free Town USA Business Listing to your web site to increase the exposure of your web site to your local community.
