Town InformationThe town of Thompson in the extreme northeast corner of the state, bordering Massachusetts and Rhode Island, covers 48.7 square miles and is home to approximately 8,800 residents. Thompson was settled as a northern district of Killingly in 1707 and was incorporated in May of 1785. Thompson has always been a manufacturing center. Today the town remains a center for light industry. Its largest businesses now are paper goods and tool and die producers.
