Town InformationThe town of Plainfield in eastern Connecticut covers 42.7 square miles and is home to approximately 14,705 residents. Plainfield was settled first as early as 1690 but was not named until 1839 when the first church society was organized. In 1869 the town was incorporated from Farmington. Plainfield is primarily an industrial community. Its principal manufactures are electrical products, ball bearings and metal casting.
