Town InformationThe town of Lyme in southeastern Connecticut on the east bank of the Connecticut River, covers 33 square miles and is home to some 2,000 residents. Lyme was originally settled in 1665 and was incorporated in 1667 when it was set off from Saybrook in 1667. This small rural town includes a major section of the Nehantic State Forest, Lords Cove Fish and Wildlife Area, and the Becket Hill and Selden Neck State Parks. Of particular interest is the Gillette Castle State Park which has its major attraction, the great, medieval castle built by the famous actor, William Gillette.
