Town InformationThe town of Wolcott, population 14,110 covering 20.6 sq. miles is located in west central Connecticut on the hills once included with Waterbury, to the west, and Southington, to the east. It was settled in 1731 by John Alcock of New Haven, a wealthy landowner. His house on Spindle Hill attracted other early in habitants who did not need to rely wholly on their own labor for sustenance. The church society was formed in 1770 and called Farmingbury because of its location between the two cities most important in the area then, Farmington and Waterbury. The town was incorporated in 1796. Until recent times this town was secluded by its location atop hills high enough to provide views of the Long Island Sound to the south. Today the town's population has swelled considerably due to its proximity to employment possibilities in several more industrial towns in the area.Preferred Town USA CustomersInclude a hypertext link from your free Town USA Business Listing to your web site to increase the exposure of your web site to your local community.
