Town InformationThe town of Naugatuck was deeded to colonist by the Milford Indians as early as 1685. The first settler was Samuel Hickcos from Farmington, who built the first house in the town in 1703. Early settlement was limited because the land lacked agricultural assets. The first parish was formed in 1773 and called the Salem Society. The town was incorporated from Bethany, Oxford, and Waterbury in 1844, the borough chartered in 1893, and the two consolidated in 1895. Today this is a diversified industrial center. Other than Uniroyal, the largest company is the Peter Paul-Cadbury candy manufactures. An industrial park begun in 1974 has attached other industries as well, and now chemical, brass, and plastic products lead the town's list of manufactures.Preferred Town USA CustomersInclude a hypertext link from your free Town USA Business Listing to your web site to increase the exposure of your web site to your local community.
