Town InformationThe town of Middlebury in southwest Connecticut covers 18 square miles and is home to approximately Population (1990): 6145 residents. The town was settled in 1707 but was not incorporated until 1807 on lands from Waterbury, Woodbury, and Southbury. Little has disturbed this town's peaceful history as an enclave for dairy farming. Today, it remains a rural character that accurately reflects its history of livestock breeding successful enough to permit its residents to raise saddle horses as a sideline.
