Town InformationThe town of Cheshire located slightly southwest of the center of the state, covers an area of 33 square miles and is home to approximately 26,410 residents. The town was first settled in 1694 by families from Wallingford. The town was given its present name when the Congregational parish was formed in 1724. Steady growth continued and the town was incorporated from Wallingford in 1780. Cheshire is a strong industrial community with businesses ranging from owner-operated shops to firms as large as Waterbury Farrel and North American Philips. |
