Town InformationThe town of East Hampton in Central Connecticut in Middlesex County called Chatham until 1915, covers 36.8 square miles and is home to some 10,290 residents. East Hampton was first settled in 1710 and in 1767 the town was separated from Middletown and incorporated. East Hampton is the location of the first factory in the country devoted exclusively to bell making. One bell factory still operates, and the rest of the town's industry is based on industrial net, witch hazel, and tool and dies manufacturing.
