Clinton was originally settled in 1663. The town was named and incorporated when the town of Killingworth was divided in 1838. Submit Your Local Sports Information You are cordially invited to participate in the Eighth Annual, Clinton Lions Shoreline Shootout. Again this year all proceeds will benefit Project D.A.R.E. and other Clinton youth programs. Project D.A.R.E. is a tobacco, drug and alcohol education program targeted at elementary and junior high school students. The main goals of D.A.R.E are to prevent substance abuse among school children by developing their self-esteem and the skills necessary to resist social pressure. Project D.A.R.E. accomplishes these goals by training carefully selected law enforcement officers to teach a structured, sequential curriculum in the schools. We are asking for the support of individuals and the business community to ensure a successful event and the continuation and expansion of Project D.A.R.E.. So please join us for what's sure to be the Business/Social/ Charity event of the summer. Place: The Clinton Country Club, Old Post Road (RT. 145), Clinton, CT 06413. Date: Monday, June 23, 1997 Entry Fee Includes: Greens Fee & Shared Golf Cart, Driving Range, Commemorative Gift, Buffet Lunch, Refreshments on the Course, Hors d'oeuvres & Dinner and Refreshments. The Eighth Annual Clinton Lions Club Golf Tournament will be held Monday, June 23, at the Clinton Country Club.
